They say, “A sound mind in a sound body,” but no one mentioned sore legs, being covered in sweat and gasping for air…
This year, our team decided to swap their slippers for running shoes and take part in the Poland Business Run. This is how it went.
The Poland Business Run Foundation
The Poland Business Run started as a fun way to get people out of the office, move, and work together in a different kind of team challenge. It’s a relay race where employees from different companies compete, but the main goal isn’t just to win; it’s all about promoting teamwork, staying active, and supporting a good cause. All the money raised goes to charities, helping people with disabilities, and funding rehabilitation programs. See this years beneficiaries.
In short, the Poland Business Run is a great mix of fitness, fun, and doing something good for the community. And it sounds like a perfect challenge for Xfivers! 💪
Virtual Race Enrollment
Despite our best efforts, we weren’t quick enough to enroll for the onsite run (all spots were taken on the very first day of registration!). But since we are remote-first we were all in for the “virtual” version. This way each contestant could run individually anywhere in the world and just needed to use an app or smartwatch to register the run. It turned out even better, as not only our team members from Kraków could participate.
Preparation and Training
To give ourselves an extra boost (and maybe a little illusion of speed), we’ve had our Head of Design Mikołaj design some seriously cool Xfive-branded T-shirts.
Training for the run has definitely been tiring and more demanding than we initially thought. It turns out running isn’t just about looking good in those cool Xfive-branded T-shirts and running shoes! 😉 But it was a good team building experience, too.
We’ve been swapping workout updates, sharing those hard-earned personal bests, and giving each other the push to keep going. There’s been plenty of friendly competition, but it was all about staying motivated and keeping the team spirit strong.
Race Day
We had two teams taking on the Business Run challenge. One team managed to meet up at Kraków’s Polish Airman Park to run together. We took the whole thing pretty seriously, there were warm-up exercises, motivational speeches (okay, mostly pep talks), and then we hit the track! The sun was shining bright, making it harder to keep pace, but we powered through, doing our best. After the race, we didn’t forget to cool down with some good old-fashioned stretching.
The second team was a bit more international, running from different countries: Poland, France, and Slovakia. Though spread across borders, they were just as awesome, giving it their all from their own corners of the world.
The whole day was packed with positive vibes, loads of laughter, and an incredible sense of team spirit. No matter where we were running, we were in it together!

Results
In the end, both teams “crossed the finish line” with some solid times and huge smiles! Team 1 completed the race at 01:53:49, landing a respectable 582nd place, while Team 2 managed to finish the race with a time of 02:36:59, securing 2388th place. Not bad for our first Business Run! 😎
This is just the beginning of our running adventure. We’re hungry for more; more running and more helping. And are already looking into other runs we could participate in….
Our goal for 2025? To break into the top 300! So, keep your fingers crossed for us as we keep training and pushing forward. We’re ready to make an even bigger impact next year!
